Wow Amy, they all came out great - I just love your candlesticks and ornaments. Such beautiful shapes and textures and glazes. I was wondering if the nichrome wire would hold the ornaments up in the firing - I guess it is stronger than it looks - what gauge did you use?
I am not sure what gauge the wire is. I have had them so long I wouldn't know where to find the paperwork. I'm guessing it is close to 1/8" thick if that helps. Some of the wires have bent during the firing, but none ever enough to do any damage to a piece. I only hung one ornament per wire because they are fairly large. When I make beads I load them up.
Throwing clay is exhilarating. On the first night I sat at a potter’s wheel, the feeling of wet clay spinning through my fingers drew me in. With my hands I can form a bowl, cup or plate from a lump of clay. Years later, it still amazes me.
I was strictly a two-dimensional artist until I touched clay. Now I wrap illustrations and patterns around three-dimensional forms. The marriage of two disciplines fascinates me. Creating the right balance is my focus.
My choices are influenced by my surroundings. I walk in the woods looking for unexpected bursts of color. I stalk antique stores searching for fresh forms. I touch produce at the market. I observe patterns in textiles and architecture. I study well-made objects.
The reward is hearing that my piece has in a special spot in someone’s home, but is also used at their table. Decorative. Functional. Fine art for an everyday purpose.

Looking good! My fav is candle holder on the far left with the scalloped pattern at the bottom. Nice!

Those ornaments look great! Nicely done.
